Have you ever wondered how the professional upholsterers work their magic on furniture pieces to make them look fresh, luxurious and elegant? Have you often thought you would love to have a go but are unsure where to start? Or have you tried your hand at upholstery and would like to develop your skills to the next level? I would be delighted to welcome you to one of my friendly and welcoming one day workshops at one of my venues in Lancashire or Cheshire on a date to suit you.
“Had a fantastic day today learning to make a footstool with Jo from the Boho Shed. She is a great teacher – very patient and encouraging and worked at a pace to suit all. I have never done any upholstery before, but Jo walked us through the steps and everyone ended up with a beautiful footstool to be proud of. The day was very inspiring and I met some lovely people and was kept fed and watered with plenty of tea and coffee and Jo’s gorgeous cakes. I can’t wait to attend another of Jo’s courses and would thoroughly recommend this to anyone looking for an enjoyable day learning the basics of upholstery – you won’t be disappointed!”

During the day you will learn how to make and upholster a lovely footstool from scratch to take home with you on the day (everything will be provided for you apart from a 1 metre piece of fabric which you would need to bring with you).
You will be able to choose the feet (height and style) from a selection for your footstool and also the colour/shade of furniture paint and/or wax to complement your fabric.
Please don’t worry if you are a complete upholstery novice! I will start from the beginning and explain all about the tools required, the materials to use, about the pros and cons of different fabrics and provide advice on the best and most competitive retailers.
Alternatively if you have dabbled a little in the wonderful craft of upholstery already, but want to develop your skills and progress to a slightly higher level, then this is the course for you. The numbers are kept small (6 to 8) to allow for one-to-one instruction for much of the time during the day.
Each workshop will run from 10am to 3pm with lunch break and plenty of coffee/tea/cake in between – my Mum’s delicious scones and Aunty B’s gorgeous cakes are becoming rather renowned among workshop attendees!
Everything you will need for the workshop will be included (apart from your fabric), and a selection of upholstery tools will be available for you to buy at the workshops should you wish to continue with your own projects at home. Cash, PayPal or Bank Transfer payment methods will be available on the day.
